Jackson Pollock

I never understood abstract art... till last week. I went for an Art Exhibition at the Whitworth Art Gallery and there were some sketches made by Jackson Pollock. Now, I think he is a real genius.

JP, Lavender Mist, 1950

The pure masterpiece: Number 31

It looks different here doesn't it?!

Feels like it's alive! By the way, it's in the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA). I'd love to go to New York some day and visit MoMA :)

I have to say that his works will remain controversial. But I am glad that I have learned to like it.

I hope you enjoy it too!

Here are a few quotes by him,

My painting does not come from the easel. I prefer to tack the unstretched canvas to the hard wall or the floor. I need the resistance of a hard surface. On the floor I am more at ease. I feel nearer, more part of the painting, since this way I can walk around it, work from the four sides and literally be in the painting.
I continue to get further away from the usual painter's tools such as easel, palette, brushes, etc. I prefer sticks, trowels, knives and dripping fluid paint or a heavy impasto with sand, broken glass or other foreign matter added.
When I am in my painting, I'm not aware of what I'm doing. It is only after a sort of 'get acquainted' period that I see what I have been about. I have no fear of making changes, destroying the image, etc., because the painting has a life of its own. I try to let it come through. It is only when I lose contact with the painting that the result is a mess. Otherwise there is pure harmony, an easy give and take, and the painting comes out well.

Swedish Eco-Town: The Future of How We should Live

This really is advanced and eco-friendly... Just like how I like it! :)

RYE RYE : M.I.A's (Paperplanes) Protege

Seriously... I think Black People can really shaaakee their booty!! Look at 0.44!! 1.30... Hehe. Amazing

I'm not such a big M.I.A fan, but I think Rye Rye looks cool. I'm not a huge fan of R&B or Hip hop music.

But I strongly support it because of the liberation it gives black people, the move up from their social-economic background. It's really what they have, MUSIC.

How else can they be liberated from their ghettos? I really hope for equality but sometimes, maybe we are just genetically programmed for success or not. There are people out there fighting against the odds, and some of them finally succeed. I applaud their effort. :)

CLEMENS en AUGUST

I have been trying to figure out the brand's name for the past year. I read about once in an online article... browse through their site and forgot about it.

And today, popping into my inbox, an invitation to visit them in London! But alas, I'm not in London. I really wanna go to their 'exhibition'. As they do not have shops around the world, unlike commercial brands like Hugo Boss or YSL...

Theirs shops or should I say display lasts only a few days in major cities around the world. And after customers place their order and their measurements taken. Only will their items of tailored clothing arrive in the post! :)

I am quite into their designs as I find them really clean cut.

C&A

I think I will starting blogging about things I find on the internet and I think it's interesting! So I will not forget.!

___________________________________________

After doing some research... :)

C&A were the Topshop and H&M in the 70s and 80s, offering cheap, cheerful and fashionable apparel for everyone. But competition became stiff in the 90s and C&A were forced to shut down in 2001 in the UK.

Alex Brenninkmeijer, the founder of the brand decided to adopt a different approach. By making the brand more exclusive. He could charge better prices, but without the standard hierarchy of high street chain stores.

His prices are quite reasonable at £400 for a three piece suit, compared to £1200 suit from a traditional high end brand. He is cutting a lot of overhead and rent. He's clothes are displayed twice a year in
Berlin, New York, Copenhagen, London and nine other cities.

In that case, he can keep his company lean and slim if not more efficient and environmentally friendly too!
Essentially he is in the couture business, but he is not displaying his talents of minimalistic, chic and clean cut designs for mainstream audiences.

His clothes, not mass produced. And clients get to pick what they want. Instead of filtering the clothes in a store. The item will be custom fitted for you and sent to your home! :)

I have a rough idea of what kind of landscape I want for my house in the future.

I want a horizon pool and well-manicured gardens.

Like this fine specimen in Faqra, Lebanon.
